When it rains, he pours.

Finally, the big day came. The cement was soon to arrive. We noticed some issues as we made the final preparations, and we had to postpone the arrival of the cement truck until early afternoon. But we got it done, and eventually, a very professional individual from cement outfit “Thomas Betong” arrived and set up his truck and pump.

“He’s giving us the finger!”

Peter and Concrete Man shuffled along, and their professionalism mixed with a very high quality cement (I was told) funneled down into a quick, painless and clean pour. I had measured pretty good, and when we were done only 0,2 m2 cement remained in the truck.

Peter in action, raking it out

A major milestone has been reached. As this summer commenced, I really didn’t think that we would actually manage to complete the new foundation before first snow. But we did! As of now, I will only do some minor work in the tower – winter brings cold, and the low temperatures don’t allow painting, mudding or such ativites. There are still some other things that can be done despite the cold, so I aim to visit the tower from time to time to get bits & pieces in place.

Ontech 9025

I also took the liberty of installing an Ontech GSM 9025 unit, so now I can query the temperature in the tower from my phone via text. Further down the line I will be able to start & stop heaters, alarms and locking mechanisms aswell. That’s all for now folks!
