Man, this lamp has taken a beating! The good news is that the original, white oven baked enamel on the inside of the shade is in very good condition. Everything else – not so much.
So today, I went to see my friend Franke in his shop, discussing the restoration project with him. We decided to shorten the arm of the lamp 300 mm to make it better suitable as an over-door lamp (it used to be a facade lamp, some 5 meters up in the air). Then, we’ll media blast and powder coat it satin black, polish up the original white enamel, fit a new bulb holder and new wiring.
Really excited about this project. Looking at the design, wiring and wear – I would think this lamp is at least 80 years old. It will be a great treat to the tower to have its original light fixture back in place.
